Janet Tram asked:

I have a little bit of fungus on my pinki toe. My pinki nail is cracked a little and i know that there are other people who have cracked pinki toe too. Im really embarrases to wear sandles because people always stare at my toes. Im just wondering what products and i buy at a local walmart or cvs store that fight of the fungus. Its okay if it doesn"t completely take it off, like ive said before i only have a little bit of fungus.

You should see a doctor but I have read that certain home remedies work well. Believe it or not, Vicks Vapor Rub massaged in and around the mail works over time. It worked for me. There is also a remedy with vinegar and another ingredient but I’ve forgotten what it is. I read both in Consumer reports recently. Do some research on their site or look for an issue in the bookstore.
Google other sites for advice if you don’t want to see a doctor.

I’m not trying to scare you but…toenail fungus spreads. So what is a little bit of fungus on your pinky toe nail can be a major problem on other toes in 2 or 3 years if this goes untreated.

Here’s a little advice:
1. DON’T wear nail polish: wearing nail polish creates the ideal environment for nail fungus to grow and spread.
2. DO wear clean socks
3. DO keep nail short and trimmed at all times
4. DO get a separate nail file/clip for your pinky toe nail–again, it prevent the spread of the fungus

Now, what to do to get rid of the fungus:
1. Buy white vinegar and a spray bottle (shouldn’t cost more than $2.00)
2. Create a 50-50 mix of the white vinegar and water and put into spray bottle
3. Spray solution on your toes twice a day for at least a month. Be consistent! If you miss a few days, the fungus will come back.

Good luck, and I hope it works!
